Going to the chapel.

17 Jan

A few days after Christmas we made the drive south to Bloomington, home of our beloved Hoosiers, the best four years of our lives, and loads of great memories.

Sadly (or happily), I went to school before Facebook, tagging, tweeting, and pinning. Cell phones were around, but I think maybe two of my friends actually had them.  And those were more of the bulky green-screen variety.  I have photos from my time at IU, sure, but those are from get-togethers and such.  I have almost none of campus.

What I really wanted to do was visit Beck Chapel, a beautiful little gem smack dab in the middle of campus. It’s also where we were married way back in August of 2005.

A chapel for all faiths.

After we had our fill of the place, we popped into the only bar not overflowing with crazed fans and killed some time with the floofiest drink we could find…

Bottoms up.

Masculinity clearly in check, it was then time to be off to the game!

And, just for fun, here’s a holiday shot of the two of us:

I know what you mean, once I got my digital camera for graduation, I definitely toured around campus and took photos… makes me miss things.

I miss it, too. I miss our old place, and all those breakfasts and adventures.

I never really thought about the fact that I don’t have a ton of pictures from my university years. I, too, was there in the years before everyone had a camera phone. Think I may have to plan a trip back this spring to capture the pictures that I hold so clearly in my mind. Looks like you had a beautiful trip!

I hope you do! It’s actually pretty bittersweet to look back on all those memories and then see how much things have changed. But still. Totally worth it.

That chapel is beautiful, Loni. …And so are those floofy drinks. Looks like you had a great time!

Thanks, Meghan! The boys definitely gave me an eye-roll for choosing that drink, but they dealt.
